About the Artist
I'm Ari Koustrup, the photographer behind Moss Photography. Growing up in the Great Plains of North Dakota, I found a love for photography after my mom gave me a small, cheap digital camera. I would use to photograph everything I could, from our cats, furniture, my parents, and the massive pine tree that grew outside our home, bringing back my photographic trophies to my mom, who would upload them onto Facebook to show off her “creative little girl”. Eventually, my artistic interests brought me to physical media like drawing, painting, and sculpture, which I pursued through various art classes at Sheyenne High School. I would eventually revisit photography through class in late high school, being reminded of that spark I felt when I first held a camera. For the remainder of the class, I engrossed myself completely in whatever we were doing, ultimately sealing my photographic fate. With a few diversions along the way, I pursued a Photography Degree at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design, moving to the Denver area to attend in person in 2021.
I'm currently in my last year at RMCAD and have been growing my photographic knowledge along the way. Falling in love with Nature, Portraiture, and Fine Art Photography. I often find myself capturing small things like plants, wanting to bring attention to the little things we miss in our daily lives.
